Gundam Assemble Painting Kit: Essential Guide to MR.HOBBY Color Sets
Complete guide to Gundam Assemble painting kits, color sets, and miniature painting workshops at official launch events.
The Gundam Assemble tabletop game brings the iconic mobile suits of the Gundam universe to your gaming table, and with that comes the satisfying hobby of painting miniatures. While the Gundam Assemble Painting Kit options are being introduced through official launch events, collectors and players can access specialized color sets designed specifically for this new gaming system.
Bandai’s Global Launch Tour for Gundam Assemble has introduced painting workshops and exclusive color sets that give hobbyists their first hands-on experience with these unpainted miniatures. Understanding what painting supplies are available and how to access them is essential for anyone looking to customize their Gundam Assemble collection.
What Is the Gundam Assemble Color Set?
The official Gundam Assemble Color Set is a specialized paint package produced by MR.HOBBY specifically for the Gundam Assemble miniature line. This set includes White and Blue paints, two fundamental colors for painting iconic Gundam mobile suits like the RX-78-2 Gundam, which features the franchise’s signature white and blue color scheme.
Event attendees at the Global Launch Tour can receive this color set as a participation benefit when they register with BANDAI TABLETOP GAMES. The MR.HOBBY brand brings decades of experience in model kit paints to the tabletop gaming space, ensuring that the colors are formulated for the plastic miniatures used in Gundam Assemble.
The products in the Gundam Assemble line do not come pre-painted, making these official color sets an important starting point for players who want to bring their miniatures to life. While the White and Blue set covers essential base colors, hobbyists will likely need additional paints for details, weathering, and customization.
Miniature Painting Workshops at Launch Events
Bandai has organized hands-on Miniature Painting Sessions as part of the Gundam Assemble Global Launch Tour. These workshops provide both newcomers and experienced painters with an opportunity to learn techniques specific to Gundam Assemble miniatures.
SPIEL Essen Painting Sessions
At SPIEL Essen in Germany (October 22-25, 2026), Bandai dedicated an entire booth to painting activities. Booth 2 in Hall1 1B725 serves as the Painting Session booth where participants can paint a Gundam Assemble miniature under guidance. The significant benefit is that participants keep the miniature they painted, providing both a learning experience and a finished piece to take home.
These structured workshops differ from simply purchasing paints and attempting to paint at home. Event instructors can demonstrate proper techniques for applying paint to the specific plastic used in Gundam Assemble miniatures, show how to achieve clean panel lines, and explain which painting methods work best for these scale models.
Learn to Play and Painting Workshop Activities
The Global Launch Tour features three main activity types across participating events:
- Learn to Play sessions
- Painting Workshops
- Product Showcases
While activities vary by event location, the painting workshops remain a consistent element at major tour stops. These sessions are designed for ages 15 and older, matching the intended age range for Gundam Assemble products.
Promotional Miniatures and Limited Editions
Beyond the standard painting supplies, the Global Launch Tour offers exclusive miniatures in limited color variants that showcase what’s possible with the Gundam Assemble painting kit approach.
GUNDAM ASSEMBLE PROMOTION KIT (YELLOW Ver.)
Registered participants at launch events can receive one randomly distributed limited-color miniature from the GUNDAM ASSEMBLE PROMOTION KIT in Yellow Ver. The lineup includes:
- RX-78-2 Gundam (YELLOW Ver.)
- Guncannon (YELLOW Ver.)
- Guntank (YELLOW Ver.)
These promotional miniatures come pre-painted in a distinctive yellow color scheme that differs from the standard color schemes players would paint using the MR.HOBBY color sets. The specific miniature cannot be selected, adding an element of chance to the promotional offering. These limited editions demonstrate alternative color schemes and may serve as inspiration for custom paint jobs.

Painting Unpainted Miniatures: What You Need to Know
Gundam Assemble miniatures arrive unpainted, which is standard for tabletop gaming miniatures but may be unfamiliar to those accustomed to pre-painted collectibles. This approach gives players complete creative control over their collection’s appearance.
Minimum Painting Supplies
While the official MR.HOBBY White and Blue color set provides essential colors for Gundam mobile suits, a complete painting setup typically requires:
- Base colors (like those in the official set)
- Detail colors for weapons, sensors, and markings
- Primer for paint adhesion
- Brushes in various sizes
- Palette for mixing
- Water or paint thinner for cleanup
The product specifications note that images shown are for illustrative purposes only and that miniatures do not come pre-painted, setting clear expectations for purchasers.
Paint Compatibility Considerations
MR.HOBBY, the manufacturer of the official Gundam Assemble Color Set, produces paints specifically formulated for plastic models. This expertise translates well to tabletop gaming miniatures. Players experienced with other miniature painting brands can likely use their existing supplies, but the official color sets ensure color accuracy for authentic Gundam schemes.
